February 2010

Everything went well again today! I am measuring perfectly and we have a heartbeat of 163! I can’t even describe the awe I am in that this pregnancy is going well. It just amazes me.

I did go to OB Triage and spent 4 hours there so I could get re-hydrated. The plan was that I would get pumped back up and that if I take the zofran three times a day, hopefully I will start to feel better. Well it all went well until I realized that my RE’s office did not put in the prior authorization like they said they would at 9 am. I talked to the PA on call, she said she was sorry but that nothing could be done today and they would get to it tomorrow. I can barely function with the zofran, I have a really hard time while in motion…just thinking about being in a car makes me want to hurl. Then they told me they will write me a note so I can just stay home, gee thanks. I am just praying that tomorrow’s snow storm doesn’t slow things down because if I can’t get it until Friday then I am royally screwed and will probably end up back in triage. Oh well, the baby is fine and that’s all that matters!!!

Welcome to all those stopping by from ICLW…please know that I am pregnant so if you feel as though you must move on I have no problem with you going to another blog!

We found out that we were pregnant again a little over two weeks ago, after 4 years of ttc how I didn’t realize I was pregnant at 4 weeks is above and beyond me. By the time I had my first beta my hcg was over 6000 and we saw a sac, yolk sac, and fetal pole. We were beyond shocked that a)the diet/exercise worked and b)that everything seems to be going well. We went back in at 6 weeks 3 days and we saw a heartbeat and the RE said that everything looks great. So although we are not yet out of the woods things seem to be trucking along at a regular pace for once!

I do have severe nausea and vomiting again…aka hypermesis. I am taking Zofran 3 to 4 times a day and I would say I am only getting sick three times a day instead of six so thats not all going so well. When I get re-checked on Wednesday they are going to see if I need to go in for fluids and I am hoping they are going to change my dosages so I can at least keep something down once or twice a day. So that’s that in a nutshell, I am hoping it calms down after the first trimester so I can enjoy this all a bit more.

I am not out yet to everyone so please don’t mention if you are my friend on FB!

Thank you Subfertile Frugalista for nominating me for the Beautiful Blogger award.

These are tough for me since I don’t consider myself too interseting…

1. I run a meetup through meetup.com. This was without a doubt the best thing I did last year, I have met so many great friends through my Shenanigans group.
2. I am in love with Bones! I saw my first episode while at the gym last month and am now renting the seasons disk by disk on netflix.
3. I read 75 books last year.
4. I love vacationing with my family! We all go on a cruise every two years and it is always an absolute blast.
5. Now that I have tried greek yogurt, I refuse to eat regular yogurt ever again.
6. I make my own salt scrubs.
7. I am completely obsessed with Civilization Revolution, a turn based strategy game on the xbox. I actually get up early on the weekends so I can play uninterrupted. Its the best stress reliever.

and finally:

* Nominate 7(or 4) bloggers that you love and link to their blog. DONE!

You would think I would have written down somewhere what day I found out I was pregnant, but alas I did not so here it is!

Here was my first u/s pic from Feb 9th…we had a sac, yolk sac, and a teeny tiny fetal pole:)

1. Back to Basics shampoo and conditioner…I used this all last year and loved it but when it ran out I decided to try a more natural/less chemical approach to hair care and let me tell you it just didn’t work. This is one of those balance things for me, yes I want to limit the amount of bad things I put on my body each day but I also can’t stand having a bad hair day every day. I tried three different brands and all left my hair looking like a frizzy, weighed down mess. I will have to throw out there that I have wavy thick hair, so you may have more success if you have a different hair type. I couldn’t take it anymore and went out and bought the Raspberry Almond Shampoo and the Coconut Mango conditioner and let me tell you with one washing you can already see the difference.

2. Trader Joe’s guacamole kit- everything I need to make fresh guac. Need I say more? One minor issue is that I must have gotten some hot pepper on my hands and they stung for hours even after repeated washing. Damn sensitive skin!

3. Barlean’s Fish Oil Pills- At this point I rarely believe the “take this and you will have less pain” claims but I am a firm believer in taking fish oil to reduce inflammation. I now workout more than I ever have in my adult life and I rarely have to take an advil…there is no other explanation for this since my latest MRI showed the same shit it always does.

4. TJ Maxx- I was wandering around the store last weekend and I found that the beauty section had an absolute ton of organic products. I grabbed a Pharamcopia body gel(sulfate/pthalate free) in a 20 oz bottle that I absolutely love. I never really felt clean with any of my previous “safe” body wash purchases but I am head over heals for this one. I will be on the lookout each time I go for more discontinued scents of this wash!

My poor little pugmen have double ear yeast infections:( First off I have never even heard of an ear yeast infection before as Peanut always has run of the mill bacterial ear infections. The yeast infection is from water getting in their ears and staying there so we are all assuming it is from all the snow and rain we have been getting lately. From now on we have to put a drying agent in each of their ears every time they get wet while its still cold out. No wonder they have both been acting a little off, I knew Peanut had an infection but never even thought to look in Buca’s ear. I am such a bad pug mom…that pug has not been sick in 6 years so it didn’t even cross my mind that he had an ear infection. We have to go back in ten days for a recheck and then she is giving me some sort of preventative medicine for the future so this doesn’t happen again.

In other news our basement is just about done…Chris has to finish drywalling his office and then the paneling has to go up but in the grand scheme of things that isn’t too bad. We are both looking into intermittent fasting (IF) as a way of staying lean and keeping your blood sugar stable so we will see how that turns out in the next couple of weeks. It’s an interesting concept, check out Dr. google to see what it says!

For the first time ever I went with my friend to Trader Joes and Whole Foods in Annapolis…here are my thoughts on both…

We first hit up Trader Joes which I loved. I have been told time and again that Trader Joes is super expensive and they will not have everything you want so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Let me start by saying at the end of my trip I spent no more money then I spend in a normal week and they had everything I wanted. I don’t think people realize that when you are buying little to no junk, you can spend a little more on your fruits and veggies and it will all even out! My favorite find of the day was their brand of non-fat greek yogurt. I bought a month’s worth as it is next to impossible to find it in stock AND it was two dollars cheaper for the two cup tub. How can you go wrong with that?

Next up was Whole Foods which I wasn’t quite as impressed with. First off, it was massively crowded and the check out lines were completely ridiculous. I am not quite sure what it was, but I felt there was nothing there(besides maybe their brand shampoo) that I couldn’t pick up at Willey’s Market and my local Acme/Safeway.

Driving to Annapolis just to go grocery shopping was a little much for me as I was gone for eight hours and spent four of it in the car(my back was not pleased with me). I can see hitting up the Trader Joes in Wilmington once a month as it is only 35-40 minutes away and there is a Panera Bread next door. My old favorite next to the new favorite…who needs Whole Foods anyway?
